TechWomen Delegation at the Women in Technology Conference at Technopark, Casablanca
Just about a week ago was our Morocco Delegation’s Farewell Celebration and Henna Party at the Association Solidarité Féminine (ASF), a social enterprise in Casablanca that provides unwed mothers with job skills, employment opportunities in its spa and restaurant, and childcare while they are working. It was a perfect ending to a week of visits to organizations dedicated to the social and economic advancement of underserved women, including one supporting widows, Mouassat in Mohammedia, and several handicraft cooperatives.
On our final day together in Morocco we hosted a Women in Tech Conference at Technopark for about 80 women and girls from schools, universities, the private sector, NGOs and government. The TechWomen Delegation participated in panels and organized workshops and presentations focused on topics such as Women-Run Tech Companies, Venture Design and The Technical Career Ladder.
Our impressive, energetic and, thankfully, flexible delegation members from Algeria, the United States and Morocco were gracious and generous ambassadors — truly representative of the high caliber of women who are involved in TechWomen as Mentors and Mentees. I have no doubts that our delegation inspired the next generation of technical women in Morocco, built connections that will lead to long term impact and encouraged many qualified women that they too can be TechWomen!
