Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan spoke with the delegation about Kyrgyzstan, including U.S.‐ Kyrgyzstan relations and women and girls in Kyrgyzstan – specifically with respect to women’s rights, human rights and social stigmas, as well as U.S. commitment to helping young Kyrgyzstanis devise solutions to local and global issues.
The U.S. Embassy’s Economic Officer Michael Kreidler, Peace Corps Director Bob Glover, USAID Gender Specialist Makhabat Alymkulova, Outreach and American Spaces Coordinator Cholpon Bakirova, and Democracy Commission Grants Specialist Altynai Altybaeva joined Deputy Public Affairs Officer Trevor Olson, to share their experiences and insight into the Central Asian country that gained its independence in 1991.

2016 fellow launches LeanIn Circle in Bishkek, hosts 14th meeting with TechWomen delegation
Inspired by her experiences during the 2016 program, 2016 TechWomen fellow Nazira Sheraly returned home to start the first LeanIn Circle in Bishkek to establish a support group for women and a safe place for them to discuss challenges. The TechWomen delegation engaged with about 25 women through a series of speed mentoring sessions.

Kyrgyzstan joins 2017 Technovation Challenge; mentors share insight to refine apps and pitches
Delegation members met with local Technovation teams, and mentors to share insight to refine their apps and product
pitches. Jeannice Fairrer Samani of the Anita Borg Institute and Erin Keeley of HGST introduced design thinking, and Kuldeep Khanijow of Symantec and Lynn Strand of Positive Impact Partner talked about business planning and markets.
