The 2014 TechWomen Cultural Mentor Application is now open! TechWomen harnesses the power of two types of mentors: Professional Mentors and Cultural Mentors. Each Emerging Leader will be paired with both types of mentors in order provide the most enriching experience for participants both professionally and culturally.
What is a Cultural Mentor?
Cultural Mentors are women working and living in the San Francisco Bay Area who have a strong commitment to empowering women. Mentors serve as cultural ambassadors to Emerging Leaders, who come from one of 16 program countries in Africa and the Middle East. The role of the Cultural Mentor is to support the Emerging Leaders’ professional and personal growth, help them acclimate, and inspire them to make the most of their time in the United States.
Over the past three years, Cultural Mentors and their Emerging Leaders have engaged in a variety of activities, including Alcatraz tours, hiking in state and national parks, and visits to cultural attractions in the Bay Area. Cultural Mentors are also invited to travel to Washington, DC at the end of the program and participate in TechWomen Delegation Trips.
