We’re just under 75 days away from welcoming the next cohort of TechWomen Emerging Leaders to the San Francisco Bay Area. What goes into preparing for their arrival in the summer months? Here’s an update from the team at IIE San Francisco.
- July: Mentor Matching Begins
The 2015 Mentor Application is open through the end of this week. We’re working to secure 99 Professional Mentors from Bay Area tech companies, in addition to a group of Cultural Mentors to facilitate activities in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. With the diversity of STEM fields represented in our cohort, we’re looking to recruit an equally diverse mentor pool. If you’re interested in applying, visit our Mentor Overview page, and spread the word to your networks in the Bay Area.
- August: Pre-Departure Info Sessions
Before ELs arrive in the U.S., we work to ensure they are as prepared as possible for life in the Bay Area, in addition to their mentorships. The team is preparing webinars, fielding questions and following up with EL inquiries to see that they have a clear understanding of what to expect, as well as a smooth arrival. From questions about travel to visa arrangements and suggestions on things to do in the city, we’re filling in the ELs on all these things before arrival day in September.
- September: Arrival Preparation
By early September, ELs will be matched with their Professional Mentors, receive housing details and itineraries for their arrival. The team will also be finalizing event details and logistics on the EL experience both in the Bay Area and Washington, DC.
On September 27, the ELs arrive, and the program officially begins!
