Eager to discover the power of a network, the 2013 TechWomen participants took over the Neon Carrot (one of many creatively named conference spaces) at LinkedIn yesterday for an afternoon of workshops and headshots. The TechWomen heard about the mission of LinkedIn, its commitment to innovation through events such as the DevelopHer Hackday, and its ever-evolving set of inventive features such as Influencers and LinkedIn Today. A TechWomen participant from Nigeria summed up the visit:
“The visit to LinkedIn was really an eye opener, how smart! You know we never pay much attention to social media back home thinking it’s a waste of time. Well now, I know better and will want to organize a small workshop for my community.”
Rotating through four active workshop groups, the TechWomen were exposed to topics such as growing your network, active membership and content discovery, and improving your profile. In addition to absorbing valuable workshop content, TechWomen had the opportunity to take professional headshots for their LinkedIn profiles and tour the LinkedIn campus.
