The TechWomen community took the Twitterverse by storm this Tuesday, tweeting live from Twitter’s HQ in San Francisco at the TechWomen Community Event. The event gathered TechWomen Emerging Leaders, Mentors, partners, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate the power of this global diplomacy effort and its network to support emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and the Middle East.
The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from Twitter CEO Dick Costolo (@dickc), followed by an inspiring keynote from Twitter General Counsel Vijaya Gadde (@vijaya) and a panel of amazing TechWomen Emerging Leaders from Africa and the Middle East, moderated by Twitter Editorial Director Karen Wickre (@kvox).
The excitement of the crowd was so electrifying that #tw2013, the official hashtag of the 2013 TechWomen program, was trending in San Francisco and abuzz well into the evening.
We’d like to thank each and every one of the more than 400 supporters in attendance, as well as the hundreds more around the world joining us virtually via Twitter, for their support and for helping make this event an incredible success.
And very special thanks to the numerous Bay Area companies, including Twitter, and the more than 150 TechWomen Mentors for making this program possible. We couldn’t do it without your passionate support and commitment to our mission of empowering, connecting, and supporting the next generation of women leaders in STEM.
