What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?
As a Libyan economics lecturer, I believe my most valuable contribution to the TechWomen mentorship and my mentor will be my unique perspective on the Libyan economy, my experience teaching economics in different settings, and the flexibility I gained from being in a war zone. I can offer insights into the economic landscape of Libya and how cultural factors influence economic behavior. Additionally, I'm skilled in facilitating dialogues, communication and collaboration across cultures. I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience with my mentor and fellow mentees and learn from them.
The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship
- Learn how to navigate converting the classroom from traditional to tech-driven.
- Develop project management skills for international and/or multi-university projects.
- Build international networks with female economists for research collaborations and more.
Mentorship Characteristic
- Participate in a skills-building course, either provided by my mentor’s company or identify a free resource online
- Focus on leadership skills building
- Focus on technical skills building
- Expand on a project that I’m working on in my current role at home
- Exposes me to new tools and platforms
Ideal Company Type
My ideal mentor would have some experience working in the MENA region or with cross-cultural considerations in eLearning design. My ideal company would be a mid-sized to large established EdTech company with a global presence. It'd be particularly valuable if it focused on developing eLearning solutions for higher education or adult learners and/or social impact through promoting education in developing countries. It would have an innovative culture, collaborative environment and commitment to making education accessible for all.
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?

- Innovative
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
I hope to gain expertise in integrating EdTech tools and platforms specifically for teaching economics. Additionally, I'm eager to learn best practices for designing eLearning materials that could be effective in Libyan settings. My mentor's guidance can help me build a network of contacts in U.S. EdTech and economics fields, potentially leading to future collaborations. Ultimately, I aim to leverage the mentorship learnings to improve my teaching effectiveness and develop eLearning resources that can benefit students and educators in Libya. I hope to establish myself as a leader in this field, promoting innovative and culturally sensitive approaches to economic education.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
Once I'm back home I'll start working on three projects: 1. Start working with my colleagues in the CoP group on the eLearning initiative. 2. Prepare for the tech BootCamp for university girls and women from disadvantaged families. 3. Establish the TechWomen Hub under the umbrella of the International Cooperation Office and the University of Benghazi, an empowerment and resource center. It'll provide tailored workshops, and tech gatherings/cafes to connect women from different professional backgrounds.
