What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?
My most valuable contribution to my TechWomen mentorship lies in my ability to merge technical expertise with a passion for sustainability, driving innovation in renewable energy solutions. I can offer insights into challenges in optimizing project efficiency and financial modeling for renewable projects. Coming from a different cultural background, I provide a unique perspective that breaks biases and fosters diversity in problem-solving and technological advancement. By sharing my experiences, skills and determination, I aim to energize discussions, stimulate collaboration, and catalyze positive change within the mentor's team and beyond.
The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship
- Gain insights into various renewable energy business models, understand their scalability and learn to prepare scalable project templates and standardized processes for streamlined project development and deployment.
- Utilize different design software, methodologies and standards to optimize the layout, sizing and configuration of solar systems, ensuring maximum energy yield and safety while exploring innovative design techniques and emerging technologies.
- Develop proficiency in advanced financial modelling approaches and software tools for renewable energy projects, optimizing project economics, maximizing ROI and exploring innovative financing mechanisms and risk management strategies.
Mentorship Characteristic
- Attend company meetings
- Visit an office or attend a site-visit
- Identify workshops or certificate programs to further my learning after the program has ended
- Focus on technical skills building
- Identify a short-term project I can work on at the partnering company
Ideal Company Type
My ideal mentor match would be within a company that is developing and operating renewable energy systems. The company should be focused on innovation and sustainability, with a strong emphasis on scalability, efficiency and financial viability of renewable energy projects. Ideally, the company would have a collaborative and inclusive culture that values continuous learning, diversity and environmental stewardship. I hope to learn from a mentor with extensive experience in the industry, a track record of successful leadership, project development and operational excellence, as well as strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to share knowledge and insights.
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?
- Driven

- Analytical
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
I anticipate the mentorship will provide invaluable insights into navigating the intricacies of the global energy landscape, providing a broader knowledge base, accelerating my understanding of industry nuances, inspirit innovative thinking and facilitate networking opportunities with key energy players. This will create avenues for fresh opportunities, partnerships and collaborative ventures. Together, we can pioneer sustainable solutions, shaping a resilient energy future while advancing my career trajectory towards leadership in renewable energy development and operations.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
I envision leveraging my TechWomen experience and network to mitigate the impact of energy poverty and power reliability challenges in my country. Zimbabwe faces a critical situation due to constraints in power generation and escalating demand, which has affected the stability and development of various sectors, disproportionately affecting women and girls and widening the gender gap in education and professional opportunities. I plan to focus on empowering communities to solve their own energy challenges at a grassroots level. I believe that by equipping them with the skills to build and manage renewable energy solutions, we can cultivate transformative change.
