Ideal Company Type
An ideal mentor for me as an early-career space system engineer could be a seasoned professional with experience in a well-established aerospace company or start-up. This company would likely focus on complex spacecraft development or space missions and applications, demanding a strong understanding of systems engineering and trade-offs. The culture would be multicultural and meritocratic, valuing technical expertise and a results-oriented approach, using innovative solutions and a strong emphasis on safety and reliability while fostering collaboration across disciplines for successful space missions.

What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
My mentor can provide invaluable guidance and share their experience about the industry, work culture, and technical and professional development, by offering advice on setting goals, building a strong resume and portfolio, and managing complex projects and opportunities. I hope my mentor can also help me understand different specializations within the field (e.g., mission planning and spacecraft design) or advise me on pursuing professional certifications. There is no doubt that mentorship programs are a great way to build a network in the space field, which is very important to find new job opportunities, collaborations and a stronger professional network.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
In Africa and the Middle East, the interest in utilizing space applications and satellite data is growing exponentially, providing solutions and technical services for different industries. I hope to use the skills and network developed through this program to form a strong network of students and young professionals interested in STEM-related education and small businesses to follow their passion and learn the needed skills such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, systems design, data analysis and embedded systems to develop their innovative solutions.
