What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
The networking and collaboration opportunities with TechWomen mentors and industry professionals could open doors to impactful roles in mining and environmental policy development, advocacy and consultancy, which would empower me with the expertise and connections necessary to drive positive environmental change and pursue a successful and meaningful career in the global space. In line with Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers year of learning, I will introduce and collaborate with TechWomen alumnae to do CPD short courses with the knowledge gained, also with the technical skills gained I will introduce periodic trainings for drone and remote sensing for transfer of skills.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
One major challenge we face in monitoring mining activities is to access most of the mine sites. Upon completion of TechWomen, the knowledge and skills gained on the use of drone and remote sensing technologies, I'll apply them to fix key barriers in executing our jobs as mining inspector. My key aim is to use the drone to fly a small megaphone device over illegal mines with vocal warning messages in different local languages, with the same drone I can take aerial photos and videos that can be used to detect illegal mining activities and make informed decision.
