What will be your most valuable contribution to your TechWomen mentorship?
My most valuable contribution to my TechWomen mentorship will include providing critical systems analysis that ensures a system is effectively serving the business. I will also be able teach open mindedness and resilience, and bring a commitment to logically solve problems and deliver solutions. I will exhibit a team player attitude and immense willingness to learn. Last but not least, I bring a genuine openness to connect and share the beautiful Zimbabwean culture in food, dress and general conduct.
The Top Three Things I Would Like to Learn or Experience During my Mentorship
- Enhance skills related to strategic leadership
- Setting up a data analytics team (organizational structure and technical infrastructure), as well as an effective use of data analytics to support a business
- How to manage online payments and software system contracts.
Mentorship Characteristic
- Attend company-wide meetings and/or team meetings
- Visit an office or attend a site-visit
- Focus on leadership skills building
- Exposes me to new tools and platforms
- Gets me involved in day-to-day activities of the mentor and partnering company.
Ideal Company Type
My ideal mentor match would be with a mentor at a large ICT organization that either develops or works with customer centric applications. My ideal mentor is familiar with utilizing data analytics to optimize business and improve customer engagement. I would like to experience a company culture that promotes innovation and actively encourages women leadership.
What are three adjectives that best describe you in the work place?
- Hardworking
- Team-player
- Adaptable
What impact will your mentorship have on your career and professional path?
My career and professional path are headed towards strategic transformational leadership in ICT, therefore collaboration with a US-based mentor will open up my mind to the various opportunities and possibilities, and give me perspective into how I can achieve my goals. I believe that the TechWomen mentorship will inspire me and guide the trajectory of my career and professional path, and will help me to see beyond what I might imagine as barriers in my local context.
After participating in the TechWomen program, how will you leverage your mentorship experience to make an impact in your home country?
I will implement as much as as possible all that I have learnt and extend the TechWomen network to the all the women in Zimbabwe in my reach, through setting up a local TechWomen chapter and ensure we tap into what other local TechWomen have already done, fill the gaps and explore how best to complement each other. I will also actively reach out to women and girls in ICT and STEM more broadly through webinars, round table discussions, community and school outreach to share the experience and inspire others. I will set up sustainable mentorship programs to help identify and achieve career goals for women in ICT.
